VIA ALPINA |
 |
Eight alpine countries in Europe are working together on a challenging project: their common
goal is to establish official hiking trails linking all their alpine countries, from Trieste at
the Adriatic Sea to Monaco on the Mediterranean. The route is officially signposted as such
and – on Swiss territory between Buchs and Montreux – offers a daily luggage transport.
A real trail of unsurpassable beauty awaits you.

TRANS SWISS TRAIL |
|
The Trans Swiss Trail crosses through Switzerland from the far West in the Ajoie to the
deep South and the Luganersee lake. It offers magnificent views of Switzerland’s varied
landscapes: Jura, the three lakes region, the Mittelland, the Emmental, Lake Lucerne,
Reusstal, the Gotthardpass and Ticino. The walking options do not present any particular
challenges in terms of topography and route properties and are therefore ideally suited to
leisure walkers.

ALPINE PANORAMA TRAIL |
|
The Alpine Panorama route passes through some Switzerland’s most attractive areas at the
foothills of the Alps on its way from Lake Constance to Lake Geneva: Appenzell, Toggenburg,
Zugerland, Lucerne, Napfgebiet, Emmental, Greyerzerland, Lavaux and Côte d'Or are
all home to milk and cheese, folklore, cherry pie, gold panning and a winegrowing culture.

VIA JACOBI |
|
The pilgrimage route to the grave of Saint James in Santiago de Compostela (Northern
Spain) is one of Europe’s most important spiritual traditions. The ViaJacobi forms part of the
European Way of St. James and runs along the foot of the Alps from Lake Constance to
Geneva – right through Switzerland. Treasures such as chapels, churches and hostels line
the route, one after the other, offering a magnificent walking experience along with the varied
cultural landscape.

JUARA CREST TRAIL |
|
The Jura Crest Trail has a long-standing tradition as a long-distance footpath. Despite this,
access to accommodation and catering does present certain difficulties as there are very few
places to stay over the first peaks of the Jura. Luckily there are lots of post buses and train
connections which lead down into the southern foothills where there are places to stay. The
Jura Crest Trail offers pleasant walking opportunities – minimal height variations and generally
good pathways. Note the somewhat longer walking times for each stage.

ALPINE PASSES TRAIL |
|
The Alpine passes route will open as a new national long distance footpath in Spring 2008
as part of the «SchweizMobil» project. It begins in Chur, crosses through the anterior Rhine
gorge and the Lugnez valley and continues on over the high plateaus of the Greina to Tessin.
The route runs through Ritomsee, Val Bedretto and the Nufenenpass to Wallis. Walkers can
see the high peaks at close hand over the Brig – Zinal section and marvel at the powerful
panoramic views of the Walser 4000m mountains including the Matterhorn. The route is
suitable for experienced walkers in good health. Experience of walking up high mountains
is not necessary.

HEIDILAND TRAIL |
|
|
Trek through well known highlights such as the wine making village of Quinten at Walensee or the mythical Tamina Gorge with the Old Bath Pfäfers. You can add more variety to these experiences with the romantic Murgseen, the unspoilt Schilstal (Schils valley) or the waterfalls of Batöni in the interiors of the Weisstannental! These are just some of the highlights of the Heidiland Trekking Tour – spread over three, four or seven days.

CHEMIN DU VIGNOBLE |
|
|
The vineyards on the steep slopes catch the eye no matter where you look in the Walliser Valley of the River Rhone. The biggest wine growing belt, an almost closed band on the right edge of the valley, lies between Martigny and Leuk. The Walliser Wine Route runs through this area over a stretch of 66 km over gently undulating terrain. Below the vineyards, surrounded by Alpine ridges, flows the River Rhone.

SENTIERO DI LUGANO |
|
|
One highlight follows another starting with the famous balancing act from Monte Lema to Monte Tamaro and the Botta church at the Alpe Foppa. This is followed by the Denti della Vecchia (Old Woman’s Teeth) and the Monte Boglia, probably the most impressive view point in the Sottoceneri region. Then, after Lugano comes the much-walked pathway from Monte San Salvatore to picturesque Morcote.

VIA RHENANA |
|
|
The ViaRhenana between Kreuzlingen / Konstanz and Basel is characterised by its diverse river landscapes around the lower lake and Upper Rhine. Nature, culture and technology form a fascinating combination along the river and its banks. The river flows through some magnificent natural landscapes and links important European cultural centres such as the towns of Konstanz, Schaffhausen and Basel and the UNESCO world heritage site – the island of Reichenau. The Rhine Falls, Switzerland’s most visited destination, lies on the ViaRhenana as do the attractive spa resorts of Bad Zurzach, Bad Säckingen and Rheinfelden.
