| WILLISAU - BURGDORF 64 km From Willisau to Burgdorf the Herzroute passes through lonely hill ranges and paths through fields, through shaded woods and snug villages. Lush meadows surround the stretches and the Alps make a grandiose backdrop. The Herzroute, which has excellent signposting, passes through the scenery of the Emmental, the upper Aar valley (Oberaargau) and the Lucerne Backlands. Attractive inns and farmhouses along the route offer boarding optionswith regional products. BURGDORF - LANGNAU 45 km Burgdorf with its Altstadt (lower and upper city), a sight worth seeing, is an added attraction. The Herzroute follows a cosy trail along the edges of the slopes and promontories and over the plateaux through a far flung and original piece of the Emmental. The view of the hills and the upper Emmental is magnificent. LANGNAU - THUN 70 km This section is the crown jewel of the Herzroute: It passes from the upper Emmental to the Thunersee and takes the traveller along the scenery of the pre-Alps. You get immersed in a cosy landscape of woods and meadows, where you barely encounter cars, and experience the moods of the Upper Emmental with its wide sections of forests and plateaux. The mountains are close by, the edges of the valley are steep and the streets wind around their projections. As you break through near Schwanden there is a huge surprise, because you will be surfacing 500 m above the Thunersee. After a breezing descent, you reach the tourist highlight of Thun. THUN - LAUPEN / MURTEN 64 / 74km This stage provides an intensive contact with the Thunersee landscape, at the outset. After this the route crisscrosses the Moränensee area of the Amsoldinger Platte. The stretch begins to slope upwards from the Gürbetal via Burgistein to Riggisberg and climbs over Längenberg, where the roads run in seclusion over a large distance, and with magnificent views of the crests. In Scherligraben, it will even be necessary to push the cycle along for a short distance. Over the Grosser Forst and slopes with far reaching views of the Freiburg Alps, you reach the destination in the form of the little town of Laupen, with its scenery from the Middle Ages. A fitting finale to this route with spirit. THE HERZROUTE WITH FLYER The Herzroute is the ideal terrain for the FLYER E-Bike. This is where it really shows its teeth and digs into the nastiest slopes in the Emmental region. There is almost no manoeuvring required; the propulsion will depend on the efforts you put in, and doubles it. |
