| VERBIER- NENDAZ 29 km / 950 hm A climb full of good views leads up to the Croix de Coeur. The higher you climb, the more impressive the alpine panorama becomes; on the pass, the view extends up to the Grand Combin and remains a constant companion from here onwards. NENDAZ - ST-MARTIN 46 km / 1700 hm It is a long ascent to Nendaz, over the viewing platforms of the skiing region of Thyon. The schuss ride now leads to Heremence while the impressive wall of the dam Grand Dixance is sighted every now and then in the distance. ST-MARTIN - GRIMENTZ 37 km / 1150 hm We leave behind the Val d'Herens, far above the valley bed. The large skiing resorts get left behind, the villages get smaller and dreamier. We reach Grimentz, with the glaciers of Diablerets, Wildhorn and Wildstrubel in view on the opposite side. GRIMENTZ - SIERRE (CHANDOLIN) 27 km / 1150 hm The overall appearance of the old town of Grimentz is one of the prettiest and most typical of the Valais Alps. A gravel road leads to the Val de Zinal and a few gruelling ascents later, further on to the destination at Chandolin: departure to Sierre, continuing on the Veloland-Rhone-Route No. 1 to Sion SwissTrails Tip short rail journey from Sierre to Sion. SION - ANZERE 25 km / 1350 hm After the start, the landmarks of Sion present themselves from their most adorable side: The Basilica Valere and the Tourbillon Castle. Sprawling vineyards mark the climb to Anzere. The landscape grows wilder and the panorama more impressive with increasing altitude. ANZERE - CRANS MONTANA 26 km / 860 hm Early in the morning, we get into form with a short climb before embarking on the fi rst long descent to Icogne on the opposite side of the valley. Past many curves , you reach the sophisticated tourist spot of Crans-Montana from here. CRANS MONTANA - LEUK 30 km / 640 hm Past the remote Alps, steep alpine pastures and wild mountain scenery, the tour ascends to 2000 metres above sea level. The highest point of the tour is the start of a long descent: it is a one downhill stretch of 1400 altitude metres to Leuk. LEUK-VISP 52 km / 1350 hm The ropeway to Unterems saves us the fi rst 400 altitude metres, after that it is up again till Zeneggen, one of the most beautiful mountain villages of the Valais Alps.
