DAY TRIP CRESCIANO - ARBEDO 8 km
Ticino is renowned for its mild climate, sunshine, clear skies, palm beaches and chestnut trees – in short: the «sun inn of Switzerland». But not many people know much about the river from which its name is derived. This clear river is in fact quite different from the impression you would gain looking at it from the motorway or a train window as it weaves its way between the large gravel banks against the mountain backdrop. It soon becomes clear why this stretch of the Ticino is known as the «Riviera». And when you reach Arbedo, be sure to visit the near-by canton capital of Bellinzona with its UNESCO world heritage site castles, lively old town and colourful inhabitants.
