CANOE SAFARI
ON THE AARE |
Taking a canoe ride through the countryside is one of the best ways of enjoying nature.
Discover new worlds on the waterways! You will travel along the wooded banks, past gently
rolling meadows and picturesque villages. Enjoy all the flora and fauna have to offer from
your inflatable canoe.

AARE CANOE |
The Aare is a very slow flowing river between Büren and Koblenz and wends its way through some extremely charming and varied landscapes. In this way, you can experience the Swiss Mittelland region from a new angle. The route winds its way through the unspoilt landscape of «Witi» – and at Altreu you will probably be able to see storks flying through the skies.

TICINO CANOE |
Ticino is renowned for its mild climate, sunshine, clear skies, palm beaches and chestnut
trees – in short: the «sun inn of Switzerland». But not many people know much about the
river from which its name is derived. This clear river is in fact quite different from the
impression you would gain looking at it from the motorway or a train window as it weaves its way between the large gravel banks against the mountain backdrop.

LAKE CONSTANCE CANOE |
Lake Constance is a boating paradise with its 270 km coast. The Untersee lake is particularly
suitable for canoeing and sea kayaking since the large nature reserves and rich cultural landscapes, including numerous beautiful castles, form an exciting backdrop to any day’s
paddling.

THUR CANOE |
The 127 km long Thur river does not flow through any lakes or artificial lakes, instead following
its own untamed path with very varying water levels. In just a few hours, the river
can change from slow-flowing to a raging torrent. On warm Summer days, the clear waters
and romantic gravel banks are perfect for bathing and picnics. Beavers also live in the area.
Although rarely seen, their claw marks can often be seen on tree trunks.

BERNESE AARE CANOE |
The Aare – the «national river» when it comes to canoeing in Switzerland – is a cool Alpine
river when it leaves the Thunersee lake, although its waters are extremely clear and its current
strong. The river flows through 3 obstacles of note: the ‘Uttiger Schwelle’ (an area of
powerful waves and swirls) and the bridge piers in Münsingen und Muri.
RHINE CANOE |
As one of Europe’s largest rivers, the Rhine is also one of the most-travelled waterways. The
charming stretch between Lake Constance and the Rhine Falls, with its beautiful landscapes
and cultural treasures, is one of Switzerland’s most popular canoeing routes. A visit to the
town of Stein am Rhein is recommended before setting off. Once on your way, the town of
Diessenhofen and the former abbey of St.Katharinental line the river.

LAKE OF BIEL CANOE |
On one side, the Bielersee lake is dotted with vineyards on the southern slopes of the Jura – and on the other side, it offers panoramic views of the Bernese Alps. This makes for a
beautiful backdrop to a relaxing day as captain of your own boat. The banks are lined with
lots of small restaurants and harbours – barbecue and bathing areas are also available
everywhere.
REUSS CANOE |
The Reuss – Switzerland’s fourth biggest river – originates in the Gotthard massif and flows between the pretty towns of Bremgarten (worth a visit!) and Gebenstorf (near Brugg) through a largely untouched natural landscape. Many of the islands are protected conservation areas while the brisk flow of the river requires particular attention to obstacles such as boulders, bridge piers and trees overhanging the water.
