LAKE OF BIEL CANOE

DAY TRIP BIEL - ERLACH 13km
On one side, the Bielersee lake is dotted with vineyards on the southern slopes of the Jura – and on the other side, it offers panoramic views of the Bernese Alps. This makes for a beautiful backdrop to a relaxing day as captain of your own boat. The banks are lined with lots of small restaurants and harbours – barbecue and bathing areas are also available everywhere. A particular attraction of note is the Petersinsel island which achieved fame across Europe thanks to philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau. Today, the 100 wild rabbits on the peninsula are testament to the philosopher’s presence here.
